I’ve gooned so hard for so long I may as well have something to show for it.
- Valentina Vaccarella
Baby I Am Mount Everest centers on a video portrait of porn star Annette Schwarz, in which she
narrates fantasy, desire, and performance, oscillating between the absurd and the intimate. Her
words — confessional, funny, self-mythologizing — form a portrait of desire as self-fashioning.
Accompanying the video are two new paintings, Rocco Siffredi and Kelly Stafford, each bearing
the subject’s autograph punctured through canvas, Fontana rerouted through the celebrity-in-
dustrial complex. Together, the works interrogate the mechanics of attention, obsession, and
notoriety, staging a dialogue between personal narrative and performative identity, and exposing
the fragility of ego in the digital era.
