The installation invites us to take a peek in to Scarlet’s bedroom, where she is surrounded by an overwhelming collection of over one million personal items, from dresses and shoes to jewelry and perfumes. Why has she bought so much? Or maybe Is she trying to fill in the emp- tiness, but drowning in the attempt of her own desire.

We are in a constant search for belonging. In seeking a safe space to express our true selves, it often feels like we’re waiting for permission to be accepted as we are. This makes us question: What is expected of us as individuals, and by whose standards are we defining ourselves?

Morten Viskum’s background as a veterinarian has deeply influenced his creative practice. His work often features wax figures and self-portraits that explore themes of identity, vulner- ability, and the human experience. By combining his understanding of biology and anatomy with artistic expression, Viskum creates pieces that challenge viewers to confront their per- ceptions of themselves and others. This dual expertise allows him to approach his art with a profound awareness of life and mortality. - statement by Inti Wang
