Candela Capitán

28.03.25 - 27.04.25

inter.pblc is excited to present a solo exhibition and series of performances by Candela Capitán:
XXX XXX X is an expanded, multidisciplinary project by Candela Capitán. The first part will be presented at inter.pblc as an installation titled X.

The multidisciplinary exhibition X explores hyperproduction, exploitation, and the relationship between the body and technology. The work establishes a parallel between two spaces of intensive productivity - industrial milking facilities and the so-called “influencer farms” - examining how bodies, predominantly female, produce milk or data under logics of optimization, surveillance, and profit.

Through an ever-evolving installation, Capitán has created a series of devices for the body that function both as prosthetic extensions and as mechanisms of confinement and oppression. The work integrates video, sculpture, architecture, painting, and three distinct performances staged throughout the exhibition month, during which the body undergoes constant transformation and experiences a metamorphosis alongside the evolving exhibition.

Through the use of decaying materials, immersive scents, the metamorphosis of living insects, and choreographic scores, the exhibition emphasizes the passage of time, the erosion of the body, and the evolution of society relating to new technological devices.

The exhibition architecture and sculptures for the body of this exhibition have been created in collaboration with architect Daryan Knoblauch.

Support of Ny Carlsbergfondet, Statens Kunstfond, Nike, and Graner - Centre de creació de dansa i arts vives.

Candela Capitán ( (Sevilla, 1996) is a choreographer and artist whose practice lies at the intersection of performance, dance, and digital intervention. Her work investigates the power structures that regulate the body in the digital age, exploring dynamics of control, desire, sexuality, and hyper-visibility. Her choreographic language subverts the traditional notion of movement in dance through its cancellation and the oppression of the body, employing physical scores, contained sculptures, and paratheatrical devices.
